Screenshot_2014-08-02-19-27-34.png It auto corrects vids to birds , I forgot about that. I was reading as I was typing saw I types out right and went on and never noticed that it auto corrected it to birds. Need to save vids ....see the suggested word on screen capture that it corrects it too when I space.

X2 on just leaving the saw level and straight the whole way through, when you tilt (or rock back) your taking cutters off some of the wood towards the tip of the bar..

Stay as straight as possible and keep the saw up in the RPM's.

Times will be not only more consistent, but they will be faster as well.

Here is one of my runs and one of MasterMech's at the GTG. We start a little off level, but try to get to level quickly and stay there.

Great thread...My takeaway from this one is that:

    1. In smaller diameter wood, a high rpm saw with good torque may work faster
    2. Rocking a saw (which I have always done) reduces the number of cutters working and may slow you down
    3. A high torque saw with lower rpm's may not shine unless you are in the bigger stuff at which time it will leave behind the 70 cc
    and lower class.
    4. Cigar smoking and chainsaws are difficult to enjoy at the same time

And keep your rpms up through the cut and experiment with a 7 or 8 pin sprocket.

Yes, Id say your pretty correct in the summary. However, I'm going to try to repeat it and but just let the saw do the cutting. I'll probably divide them up a bit.

What does a person do with that many saws? Do you pick a few to take to the field when working?

Most of is take 3 or more. A light one for limbs. And use them till dull And swap saws.

I take multiple chains as well.

I always take 2 or 3 depending on what I'm doing. Milling the 088 and a 90cc backup and then a 70cc just in case.

What becomes of all those cookies? I guess they would season fast and could be broken up for kindling.

Pretty much. It gives me the ability to pick and choose which one I'm going to use.

I just got done doing another round of cookies, this time with the bigger bar for the 46 & 660 and the same size bar with the 562XP and 665. But done the "correct" way for these types of cuts. When they get loaded, I'll load them on a new thread...

    Good deal.

When starting a race chain in a cant you don't want to be perfectly level with it when you start. You want to start at an angle and then come down.
