Ummm yeah, that's a definite no no, mixing pipe types like that. My dad used to use that" Hartford Loop" term all the time, he even used to work for "Hartford Steam Boiler Co. ". That said, here's a real Hartford Loop What we have in the pic the OP posted is just laziness. If you want to know more about a Hartford Loop, here's info.. The Hartford Loop - Certified Commercial Property Inspectors Association
Ok, what should I be looking for? The steam boiler is pretty old. I don't have air ducts in the house so other than steam or electric, I don't know how I would heat the place. Are you suggesting to replace the heating element, the pipes, or both?
Also, this is getting into territory were i would probably call a professional. We actually have a home warranty that came with the house when we bought it. I am not sure if the pipes are covered but I think the steam boiler appliance is. I wouldn't exactly be upset if the whole thing exploded and we needed a replacement. Is it worth calling the home warranty company? We were going to cancel in October but maybe it's worth it if this thing is going to blow.
I think this is what you guys were looking for. These are about 3ft. long and sometimes used for fighting...
I was trying to keep the sunny side up but you guys poaching pics have left my brain scrambled. Sorry, the deviled eggs made me say that.
