I have to do some double checking. I technically ordered this stove in November, but it wasn't available until December.

I think I’ll get the thermodisk kit at the same time.

Cancel your order and re order. Kidding. Kinda...
I’d call give them your story and see what they say. Like I said worst thing is you have a dude in a thick French accent tell you “no”

What I started with...well, a (free) Wondercoal, but same stove with an extra damper on the ash pan (air under fire for coal)...I am surprised I didn't burn the house down...man was I green...almost as green as the wood I was "burning"!

Unfortunately I grew up burning I knew it wasn’t ideal but it is what it was. One chapter in my wood heating book.

Yes I did that too a few times :( I learned the correct way sometime last winter.

Am going to chalk first one up to 100% newbie error trying to play Tetris. The second one probably happened the same way as the first but didn't notice right away so am trying to make myself feel better by thinking it happened by some other force of nature. They are pretty fragile, I think I found one online that is made from a bit tougher material.

No apology necessary. I'm enjoying the conversation. I tend to view these threads like conversations round a fire. They go where they go.

Well, I just got notice that my stove has shipped. I tracked it and FedEx says it will be here on Friday! :hair:

Well, we got it in the basement.
I'm not very good at taking pictures, but the general way it went was we slid it off the semi trailer onto a snowmobile trailer on a scaffolding plank. Then we drove it to the house and took it off the trailer to the landing in the house and down the stairs.

The below picture is while it was half way down the stairs. We used the scaffolding as a ramp and some UHMW "skis" to slide it on. We used a come along to lower it down slowly, but ran out of cable half way down so we had to handle it from there, but since we were able to stand on the floor and not the stairs, it was just a matter of helping it along without tripping on anything.

And finally a picture proving we made it to the ground in one piece.

Now we have the task of putting it all together. At this point, I'm super thankful that the stove is in the basement and my back came out ok.

Getting it where it needs to go is a big accomplishment, those suckers are heavy. Glad it's in the basement safe and your back is still working...........

    I will.
Those skis were really helpful. If you have any way of making or getting something like that, I would say "do it". Let me know if you need details.

Unfortunately I have lots of practice moving stoves up and down basement stairs.
