So my guys emptied the truck for me. I said please keep the mulberry separate. They said no mulberry was in the truck.

They are plentiful here on ditch banks and fence rows. Good wood that sparks and pops a lot. It’s the first fruit mother nature gives wildlife in early summer. The coons leave my bird feeders alone after the mulberries come on.

Mulberry is one of my favorites. Gives off a lot of heat. The ones we have around here have a white pitch that's sticky but well worth it should you be lucky enough to get some for firewood.

We’ve got tons of it in NE Kansas. I have 3 totes filled with one that fell onto the road this summer. They pop up everywhere, the birds and coons love the berries. It pops like hedge, just not as much.

I got a really big one in my backyard, I’m glad it’s well away from the house because of the mess the birds make. All my landscaper friends refer to it as weed, I think it’s a real nice tree. Unfortunately it’s got a couple soft spots so I’m not sure how much longer it will live.

I better plant a couple more mulberry trees just in case the old one dies and becomes firewood!

Unfortunately they are not common around my area of SE Wisconsin, which is on the northern end of SE WI. I know of a couple trees, but none are going to be firewood for a long time.

I'll try to get some in my stacks, but I've yet to run across any that ended up as firewood in the last 20 years.

I don’t see many at all. Only here and there. I’ve had a very small bit as firewood a while back. Unfortunately I don’t recall how it burned. I’d be more attentive to it nowadays if I found some more.

Not uncommon here in central PA as a fence-row type tree. Have a couple along edge of my yard, berries get picked off before they can ripen by birds and squirrels.

Seems the birds drop the seeds when they fly and the trees sprout up all over. Have had good luck burning it is good wood but it does take up grit and can be tough on the blade but I will take it when I can.

My wife loves Mulberries. She even makes cobbler on occasion when she finds enough berries. Her mother's house in town has a couple of them in the backyard. We had a couple of them in the woods I grew up in and Dad cut the ones that were close to the house / driveway so he didn't have to wash the car as often. We had a couple Huge ones back in the woods there.

Any pics of mulberries in your area? I saw another one in the spring that was growing in the open, recognized it as a mulberry and asked the homeowner about it. She said yup, the berries make a mess.
I say "witches broom" effect meaning the upper branches seem to curve parallel in a certain direction. Reminds me of the wicked witches broom in the Wizard of Oz.

Not the best pics, but this is half of one of my trees that split during a storm.

As you can see, the ridges in the bark aren't nearly as deep as the tree in your pic...
