You need the Selkirk DT 45 so the system will work as intended. I used a 45 on a customers job. She had a farmer's porch so I ran the DT under the ceiling but sloped it up and then a 45 facing down at the end. It worked out very well.

On my basement install I used a 90 and removed the inner pipe from it and attached the termination cap to that. I'll try to get pics here shortly.

I already have enough DT to make it work as intended.

Thanks Smoke. That's exactly what I was thinking I could do. Regular Selkirk hooks to the end of the DT and gets the termination farther away from the intake and allows me to get a bend, so I don't have wind blowing straight in. Thanks bud

Just to clarify that's the inner from a piece of DT.

But if that piece came from a DT then why not use the piece of DT that it came from? Is it more work to take it out?

I know I seen another pic where someone used a regular piece of Selkirk venting and attached it to the end of the DT kit (other than Smokes).

The way the end looks, it should take a piece of vent?

And I wouldn't remove the inner piece of DT. Just trying to avoid another bulky piece on the end. That's why I just want a simple piece of 4" vent

I agree that the last foot or so, the ash does get dark and sometimes stickier... And just because I am anal, I take an old sponge and some hot water and clean the last foot or so so it looks brand new. I know.... I also take the nozzle off twice a year and wash it off so it looks close to new. Again, I know.....

I cleaned mine and also installed the new igniter wires Quad came out with that has the fuses in them. I believe they are for when the igniter goes, it could cause a surge that could burn the main board out, and the fuses should prevent this. I also put some damp-rid in the chamber. Its surprising how much water collects in it in so short a period of time.

At the rate I'm going I won't have mine cleaned until I need to use it next fall. I dumped the ash pan and put a tub of damp rid inside it, that's it.

Welcome joescho. I recognize that name from somewhere.... :)
