My first router was a little 1hp Makita. Tens of thousands of bd ft of lumber have passed through it since 1992. Still have that little booger. What a workhorse. We need pics
MikeyB have you worked on this at all? Customer of mine wanted a couple cookies to make a lazy Susan. I had mentioned to him about your set up and wondered if you finished?
Got all my epoxy, just waiting on some purple metallic metallic color. I started last weekend and did a little more this past weekend. It’s a staged process for me. Weather has to be between 65-85 degree. I sealed the bottom of the cut out, added 2 coats of paint & primer, then another coat of epoxy, I’m filling up that hole an inch at a time. Planning to get more done this weekend. Brad, check out a You Tuber called Bens Worx, he did a sweet Lazy Susan with hand tools epoxied in the middle
I understand, waiting on the weather. Thats gonna be quite a table when youre done. This the slab i gave him. I may have to slice a cookie off of it for him. He originally wanted an oak cookie for a wedding gift. He was making a lazy Susan.
Got my shells and crab covered in epoxy, next week is the coating of the entire top surface, about 4 coats of epoxy finish.
Applied the 3rd epoxy coat on today. It’s tough to see in the picks but the cracks and checks on the top were filled in with epoxy mixed in with purple metallic powder. It’s really starting to shine though now. Next week will be the final top coat. Then at a later date I will sand down the sides and decide if I’ll finish them with Tung Oil or left over epoxy.
That came out real nice Mike! Bet your gonna love telling the story behind it. And if you ever run out or wood...!
Finished with the last layer of epoxy this past Friday, finished laying the pond pebbles as well. Will finish the side of the stump at a later date. Really pleased with the end result. Waiting on some more patio furniture to dress the area up a bit and I’ll be good for the summer.
Great finished results Mike. I would be sitting out there all the time admiring it. Any plans on making more log furniture?
Looks awesome!! I made the mistake of showing my wife. Now she wants one. The crab theme is super original too. We love it!
Thanks Brad. i have another round in my garage from the same tree. It’s a little smaller. I’m going to entomb a 100 year old steam valve handle and a couple of pipe wrench’s that’s I have and I will put the stump on some heavy duty casters to move it around the yard. Might start that one after the summer.
