Wood splitter question

get a wix or other quality filter. And forget about it for the next several years.
Unless you put a lot of hours on it.. In which case you should have an hour meter and change accordingly.

 

It depends a lot on how often and long you use your splitter. Service when using it a couple hours a month will be different than if you run it hard all day on a regular basis. The additives in hydraulic fluid wear out with heat and shear just like the motor oil in your vehicle. I always try to stick to the Mfg recommended interval. Everyone makes their own choices.

 

I couldn’t find a part number for county line. I got a replacement one from tractor supply but it isn’t the exact one but the specs are close

 

I can't recall the filter # I bought, I have to go look on the splitter. I'll try and remember tomorrow when it's light out between jobs.
you have a new one and I'm sure it will be fine.

 

My Champion calls for a Wix 51361 or Fram PH3942...I went Wix.

 

I used a wix 51259, I ran out and looked real quick. Went with that for the higher gpm flow rate. It exceeds my countyline supposedly.
With a little room for error when it eventually starts to clog up

 

Looks like a good option if you have 1" threads...I have 3/4"

 

that's interesting, I would think that all these kind of splitters would use the same kind of threads.

 

Depends on size of the filter head used by the mfg. My 37 ton has 1 1/2-16 threads. It uses a physically larger filter WIX 51740 or I can save about $10 buying direct from Northern Tool.

 

I think my Speeco uses similar filters.

Different ones filter different particle sizes. Wicks is easy...last digit is x0 micron filtered. Others are around 30 to 25 micron. Baldwin is 30 micron -10 suffix is 10 micron.

I went with Baldwin BT839-10 because it was cheaper at farm store.

I'm fairly certain my splitter had never had the hydro filter changed since 2009. Oil looked and smelled good. Filter was starting to rust at thread flange. Spitter has always been stored inside.

 

Donaldson P551327 is Thread Size - 3/4-16 UN

My tractor supply wasn’t much help identify the exact part. I found out ytl manufactures the county line splitters and contacted them.

Thank you for contacting YTL International and purchasing a Countyline Log Splitter. Tractor Supply stocks a Lenz CP-752-30 filter, SKU #1822617, or you can use a FRAM P1653A, or P1654A as a replacement filter.

 

I wouldn't buy a fram for my worst enemy fwiw. If you buy that wix I listed, it will fit your countyline. I never heard of lenz. But you can also cross reference that fram filter and find many other makes to use.

 

Lenz is a decent filter...but I agree, just convert to a wix.
