I know that there are members here from
All over the USA. So I figured it’d be a good way to see how we’re all getting on

here in NY they don’t want you going out unless it’s for a quick walk or exercise etc. and they implore social distancing. All throughout the worst of it golf courses were open and as a golfer I was out 3 times a week. No touching the flags or rakes. It was great. Now as things IMPROVE the governor closed that too. Makes no sense

I am out fishing and golfing most days still. (Just sneaking on some courses near my house). If I lived in a place like Michigan where you can’t even travel to your own vacation houses I would riot

we have a bill of rights. I will social distance. I won’t go indoors to be near other people (different argument I think it’s time to end that as well even though I’m doing it). But if you try to stop me
From enjoying the outdoors or my other houses it property, you’d have to shoot me to get me to stop

Yes there are a few exceptions and those are the ones you hear about, but here in NY 1/3 of the deaths are in nursing homes. 1/3 are in those over 65 who aren’t in nursing homes or who have pre-existing conditions. And another 1/3 are deaths classified as Covid 19 that have nothing to do with it. They just lump em all in because we don’t test dead bodies

for all this we shut down our economies give up our freedoms so that going down the road we will have massive unemployment and poverty leading to
    Crimes
    Starvation
    Suicide
    Mental illnesses
    Homelessness etc;

    people need to wake up

and wait till you see what happens to your taxes

It would be pretty easy to turn this thread into a raging political back and forth. I'lll just say this. Do you want the government to control your life?

Stoveshamster, you’re right on! I happen to live in Michigan, and as it sounds your experience has been, it feels that the restrictions are always in response to the previous set of restrictions. Yes, our governor has gone as far as to say that you cannot travel between homes, but she also has specified that yes, you can go to Lowe’s or Home Depot, but you cannot get flowers to plant around your house. You can go to Home Depot, but you are not allowed to buy paint. Menards? Sure, but don’t plan on buying any flooring.
I believe that some of the very things she is restricting may in fact help people social distance to a greater degree. If they’re busy at home on projects with the things they were able to buy at the store they would be less likely to socialize.
My wife was telling me last night that there are several county sheriffs within the state who have said they will not enforce some of the restrictions that she has put in place. There was a sizable demonstration in The state capital yesterday, and the general consensus amongst people I have spoken with regardless of political affiliation is that they are get up with her actions.
Scary the extent to which some of these politicians are willing to allow our economy to suffer in an attempt to undo the forward progress of the last 3.5 yrs. and then to top it all off there are many governors who are already making it clear that it is up to them when these restrictions begin to be lifted and not the federal government. Well, I think if it weren’t an agenda some were wanting to push, all levels of government would be collaborating together to determine when to start getting back to life as we know it.

To all, hang in there! This will pass, and there are some good things coming out of this. Good stories of neighborliness and people helping people.

Golfing deemed non-essential in Ma, but not R.I., so some peeps from Ma are sneaking onto R.I. courses as they are apparently only open to R.I. citizens. How that flies on private courses seems a bit odd but people are being caught and fined.

The "government" "controls" your life every day.
The same "government" that keeps thieves out of your house and the roads open all Winter.

No Government keeps thieves out of your home, nor your car/truck. No "Government" keeps you safe. Cops don't carry there firearms to keep you safe, it is for there safely. It is your own responseability to keep you, your home, your car and your family safe.

I hear ya brother. I’m still working in the Mighty NYC almost every day. The “City” is not the same. As of now I am getting a break having Thurs & Fri working from home. The Essential workers right now in NYC are a very anxious breed with all going on. The only thing that myself my wife and our 2 boys can do is go for a walk, bike ride or just hang in the house or back yard. I tell my neighbors and friends don’t come near me cause I still work in the city .
My parents came out today from Queens to say hello and my Dad stayed outside with a mask on and my Mom stayed in the car, we talked though my living room window. How sad is that? He wanted to go to Harbor Freight to buy a new nail gun and we had to talk him out of it.

There's a section in this forum for political diatribes, and this isn't it. I come here to discuss firewood and related topics.

Getting more and more fed up every day.

What is the actual death rate?

And, more importantly, will we ever know the number of actual cases?

This is no place for politics. There are plenty of other places on the internet for for political rants.

Most members appreciate coming here and NOT Not political crap!
