New chain?

If you're way strong handed (like I am ) flip the saw over in the vise to sharpen the opposite side cutters, they'll be more consistent that way.

 

The cutting went way smoother today. I still had to do some wiggling to get it to engage at points, but if I hooked the dogs? (Claw at the base of the bar) it really flew through the silver maple. I was about half a tank when I tried some noodling, and that was pretty slow going I thing because the round was a little wider than the bar and I probably should have resharpened at that point.

 

Can I use the Husqvarna roller file guide for a 3/8 chain on a .325 chain if I use the correct 3/16th file?

What about the raker depth guage part of the tool?
Is there a raker depth difference between a 3/8 and .325 chain?

You can’t cross them. 3/8 chain needs the blue one, .325 is silver.
They simply won’t fix down on the wrong chain. Link spacing will prevent it.

 

Also , be careful when selecting the 3/8ths roller guide . There is also a black one . The packaging isn’t real clear about what it’s for . It’s 3/8ths low profile .

As said, one set for each chain/bar combo.
Brainless, fast, in the field touch ups with stump vise, no figuring out serial numbers, does both in one pass, good break time ( Bass Ale preferred ).

 

I use the husky guides. Blue 3/8 black 3/8lp. Freehand in the woods then throw it in the vice every now and then and line everything back up. Wish I was a freehand filing master but it's just not there yet.
