    Husky 80 and Oregon 72 are both 3/8 x .50.

Pretty sure the 80 on the Husqvarna is a Husqvarna number, stands for Husqvarna H80 saw chain
    20-Inch H80-72 (72V) Saw Chain, 3/8-Inch by .050-Inch

The 72 series Oregon chains are (. 050 gauge,
The Husqvarna chain has it's own numbers, not the same as Oregon
Edit, actually I think series number is 70 for the Oregon chain
All the different numbers they use are confusing, then stihl has thier own numbers :hair: :hair:

Big difference, even to inexperienced eyes between 3/8" LP .043/.050 and standard 3/8" chain. .325 to 3/8"...... Not so much.

I got a new bar, the husqy bar didn't oil great & the oil hole would plug frequently.
Stock Husqy bars are low quality IMO

    Oregon pro lite.
Solved my oil & hot chain problems

If you've had hot chain issues , the bar may be worn bad too.
Worn bar, = more dirt, more wear on the bar & chain.

    Like you said,
Not cutting straight is usually the chain dull on one side or real bad sharpening job.
Just tick a rock or nail on a few cutters on one side, no more straight cuts.

With as much cutting as you are doing
    Might be time for a new 562xp, 20" :)
455 back up with the 18" bar
No worries then of being without a running saw :saw:

Found the box the 18" chain came in......it's Oregon 95VP072G on a matching Arbor Pro bar. I'll have to get the number off the cover for that, or take a pic.
Also, I hung the 2 20" chains on a hook and didn't pay any attention at the time, but it looks like the chain I had done at the hardware is slightly long than the original Husky.
I counted 72 DL on both of those. I'm going to go double check. Again.
Dave, I'd love a new 562 xp or similar, but it'll be a couple years.:)

Pulled out both of the 20" chains.
The newer Oregon is about 1/4" longer.

If the pitch and link count is the same, than it has to be some kind of manufacturing variable. How did you shrink the old one?

    I have a genie in a bottle...with 2 more wishes.
Now, I'm thinking I might have made a poor choice in having that chain shrunk. Dang it.
With the longer chain, I run out of adjustment to get it fully tightened. I counted the DLs and they're both 72.
    Weird.

3/8 chain is 72dl in 20" .325 chain in 18" is also 72dl. Chain gauge is like the length of 3 links or pins or something...anyway .325 chain has smaller links making it have more per inch and it just happens the dl counts on those sizes are equal.

Thanks, it's what I thought, but I'm glad you voiced it.
You may have noticed I edited out the question pretty quick after it dawned on me.

Pitch is the distance between any 3 rivets divided by 2.
