I built this reverse flow offset smoker out of an 80 gallon compressor tank. Works great. 2 degree difference from left to right side.
Nice, and LOVE that handle! I built this little one out of 2 100# LP tanks. Works well for smaller smokes.
These are a simple fun little "cooker". They call them a "discada" on a smoker builder forum. I made this to work with small wood & charcoal, but most of those guy's use LP gas. Hard to beat outside cookin!
Looks great. I've heard lots of horror stories about cutting into LP tanks. Any truth to them? How'd you do it?
I filled them with water*, but since I've heard many say that just take out the valve and leave it on it's side for a day. That stink that they add ........ we've all been well trained to respect it, but the smell remains until the first fire. I cut it with a 4" cut off disc in a little grinder. * if I had a firecracker, I'd a dropped one in after a week with the valve removed. (well it crossed my mind at least )
That smoker, in recommendation from the guys on "smokerbuilder.com" suggested that I make it for charcoal rather than stick wood. You can just see the edge of the charcoal "basket " that goes on where you see the round door. That silver (Tennessee chrome) handle locks the door tightly.
Thanks, just decoration. A real pita, I didn't want to see weld bead so I drilled a small hole and welded them from the back. There just slugs from punching holes with the ironworker.
My Xmas present, Pellet grill/smoker. Not custom yet............... But will be once I add the pid controller.
Is that the Harbor Freight welding table? How do you like it? I picked one up a while back, but have not had the chance to try it out.
