That's a nice little sideline for you! Seems like you are tripping over pecan, would be a shame to use it for heat. There was a fellow on here in Florida that was cutting a dead orange grove for smoking wood, muzzy17is, never told us how it went.

No sir, pretty much too far south. Might see one in somebody's yard. There is some in North GA. But I hear they want $$$ for it
I’m betting that if you did find it, you might be keeping a fair share yourself. Here it’s funny how it is pretty much found off and on and I’m often found using it too. But the tree to cut it gets to be a lot to process too. They get pretty big here sometimes
I need to cut a load of pecan and head north and swap some out...our pecans get big too. This one was 26" dia. I've seen some bigger too.
If the trade fits! Smart idea, hope that’ll work. Mostly the apple tops go wide, it’s a gnarled bunch but makes the bbq an excellent fare. I’ve only burned pecan in some chips and chunks not much bigger than a small matchbox, but when you’re cutting your own bbq wood, some special kind of delight seeps in.
As usual Jeff, you and the wife, do make the best looking wood i've ever seen, clean, neat, and split just right.

Delivered 2 loads to a guy that got one load from us last year. He has a stove in his auto repair shop. He said our wood puts out the heat, still had a little left from last winter. He should be set for a cold winter now. First load is at least 3/4 hickory, rest red oak. Second load is red/white oak with a little hickory. Made a small dent in the big shed. One row and a piece.
Thanks, guess I'm getting to be a true hoarder, hated to see it leave, but grass cutting was slow this year and we have a cruise in Oct '20 to finish ... It is some of the best wood we have had in a few years. We must be having an artic blast... high was 85° today...lol...nice out today, still no rain, severe drought down here.
Well, I had an idea on how to build a chunk, shorty and nugget bin with the plastic pallets I have. My good friend Chvymn99 reminded me to if I built it. So here goes... Found several cargo control ratchet straps in the trash bin at work, used grinder to cut clip off strap. Had to cut a few threads so loop would fit over 1/2" conduit. Threaded straps through the fork openings... Both ends of strap go on conduit, then drove it down even with top of pallet then ratchet tight Makes a pretty good bin. Had time to give some chunks a new home. A couple pieces of metal roofing on top, be completed. Should last awhile.
