New Heatmor system running

The new heatmor is up and running!! The house is amazingly comfortable! And the DHW side arm is working great! 100% installed by me and a few friends! Great system can't say enough on how nice the quality of the Heatmor is! And the only way to go is the logstor insulated pipe! No heat loss from stove to house! Keeps those logs burning inside the fire box for a long time!

 

If it works as good as it looks, your in business!

Heatmor's are definitely one of the best OWB out there. So efficient, and just a well built unit.

ZO, nice looking system. Just a question though, why do these OWB'S have such short flues as compared to the recommend height for a wood stove? Longer flue not needed since located outside?

Thanks to all that like the install,sorry I have been back on in a few days, the cows are having caves and the sheep are lambing! Busy time at the barns!! and about the flue, yes the longer flue is not needed being it is a stand alone unit away from the house, i am thinking of adding one more 3' section of pipe, just to get smoke higher and keep it off the back side of the house though on the wet windy days that it's not in my favor. Not to big of a issue with the smoke when it's cold outside and it's going straight up in the cold air, but with the wet mid 30's to 40 temps in Ohio winters sometimes you get that down push of wind and then it stays low and hits the house depending on wind direction. Hoping the 3 more feet will help.

 

Outside,... not really. It's more that these OWBs have fan forced draft, the tall chimney is not needed to create draft.

Wow the ohio winter has hit us hard the last two days and nights! Going to get colder as the day goes in tomorrow too! Lambs are dropping and the the cows have held their babies for now! The day time highs tomorrow is teens and then single digits at night! Glad the Heatmor is in full working order!

No heat to the animal barn, planning on heating a 50 x 100 pole building/shop/hunting room, with it after we build the building in the spring. The animal barns cannot be air tight because of health reasons to the animals fresh air is a must or will cause serious problems with my type of livestock, so no heat to the cattle and sheep barn.

 

Gotcha. I just know many barns use in floor boiler heat.

 

Yep, that's the best way to warm up a big building and keep it warm when you got it insulated well! I let you know how our building floor heat works next winter! I am super excited to get that building built!

 

When I worked for my Dad, we set up a few very large dairy farm's radiant hydronic boiler heat setups. The workers sure enjoyed having warm feet.

 

Today's high was 9 here in central ohio!! We have been lambing like crazy and the weather isn't making it easy! But the mothers are doing their jobs with warm milk for the babies And the house is warm thanks to the Heatmore to help keep us warm between barn checks! Hope all is well in the the rest of the country and the wood piles are keeping everyone warm! Thank the good Lord for blessing us with another great day at the farm!

First time I looked at this thread...great looking set up...looks like the real cold is done in Ohio unless the Lord surprises us.

 

The grass is greening up and the hay racks are staying filled with hay longer and the wood rack is too!! Old man winter is slowly going away! The animals and I are glad to welcome spring!
