I've been looking into doing something like this after having no luck getting one ordered in.

Cutoff wheel on a 4 1/2" body grinder, then lots of grinding, and lots more grinding. Got $10 in the handle.

This would be an excellent forging project. I may have to source some old axe or maul heads.

Nice job on all of them.

We'l just have to make you some axe head dies so you can just make them from scratch. I'll make you one if you send me a finished product?!

edit: couldn't you make one by pounding a hot slug through an axe head?

Sadly,I don't have a power hammer for dies. Your finished piece looks great. Nice lines almost like a bird of prey beak.

Cutting the axe head straight through and hot chiseling would remove material under the pick pretty quick. Hammering the pick end to shape would be easy. I'd notch a beer bottle opener into it somewhere.

Went to grab my pickaroon out of the truck today and it had come up "missing" :(
So, I made this one out of a 30" piece of striped maple, a lag screw and a beer cap. I'll have to do a little work on the tip, but it served the purpose.
