I remember a few of you used cinder blocks with 2x4's along the bottom and sides to stack on. Can you post pics if you have them? T-posts dont work due to the amount of boulders and rocks all over, and I want to do away with the pallet racks as I switch them out over the next 2 years. Thx
Here is how I stack the majority of my wood. I've used anything from 2x4's to landscape timbers.(whatever is cheapest) My biggest compliant with this is the cinder blocks have a tendency to sink more on one side and has caused me some re-stacking pains on occasion. I have an area that gets pretty wet in the spring and with all the melt off we had this past spring it caused some issues.
I have 16' set up now ,plan to add more. I put some scraps in the blocks to keep the uprights staying straight up
No leaves falling yet Some Pics from Early fall last year ,late fall would be a whole lot more leaves
HD- that's exactly what I'm looking for! Awesome! As I start to stack deeper into the woods, the boulders won't allow for the skid system so that's perfect! Thanks for the quick response!
I see in the pics that you guys are putting the webbing... Or "holes" up. That is the smart way and strongest way. Block have way less strength flipped on a side. Ive tossed more block in my life than i care to discuss lol !
Yes I don't, I stack mine with the solid surface up/down. I know it's stronger the other way but I'm stacking firewood not building a house. I stack them with the solid surface down in hopes that they will sink into the ground less that way.(more solid surface)
Just be carful .... I have tried using block many ways. Never works too long on there sides in any situation. Whatever makes a fella sleep at night.. Is all that matters.
I've had mine that was since 2009 and haven't lost a block "yet". So far in my use case it's working fine.
More power to ya buddy ! Instead of daycare.. I went to work with my dad laying block. Laying a block on its side for anything other than to sit on would result in a quick correction So i still to this day dont consider it an option for anything a block could be used for in this whole world And i dont consider 2009 a long enough stretch to consider me wrong anyway Unless you ask my ex wife lol
So you guys think 1 face cord per 3 blocks will be suffice for a few years? Cinder block holes facing up?Ground is stable.
Just a different perspective is all. In the terms of stacking firewood "I" think my way is fine and until they start crumbling under the firewood load I'll continue down my current path. I never implied you were wrong, I just stated I haven't lost a block "yet".
