@Scaveger over firing a stove means getting it too hot. many Will recommend getting some magnetic thermostat and placing on strategic parts of your stove to monitor stove tempertures!

Yeah, but you want it to stay in shape, right?

Just because your car can go 120, you don't drive at that speed....ummm, or do ya?

well it's curled down like i said in front but it shows no sign of not being efficient so as long as i can keep up the streaking to stoke it in the middle of a cold night it's full steam ahead--disrupts my dream pattern though

i think it would be closer for me to travel to altoona than the gathering up near flint michigan mentioned elsewhere but so far looks like only pa locals--i thought maybe a carpool from ne ohio was in the making--heck some guy from iowa has nothing better to do and is traveling from what i gather--what's on your minds out there?

I'm starting to think as cool as it is to have a network of people with the nutty common interest of wood (cutting, hauling, identifying, burning, etc) it seems a bit clic-like. You folks all sound great--all enthused about this common subject--but a bit cool to newbies--now some of us don't have the 19 cords and 16 chainsaws but you got to start somewhere--right? how else to find out what's going on with others--the way they do things and maybe one day we can all look back and laugh--so welcome the new kid once in a while--you'll be better for it

Hi scavenger. Here is a link to the common FHC and firewood and stove lingo.
It does take a little time to catch on to all the acronyms. This should help get you up to speed.

You wont find a friendlier bunch of people on the internet. And all are ready to help.

If you start another thread looking for a carpool to the Pa gtg I'm sure someone will chime in. There is always room for one more!!:handshake:

No worries scavenger :) People here are just like real life in person. Some are more serious, some are more comedic, and the rest are inbetween somewhere. Regardless of where they fall in that bunch, there are alot here that are problem solvers by nature, I bet they would like to help you solve the problem with the bullnose thing taking up room in your stove as well as make sure you are safe with that bullnose thing:) Give this place a chance, it's a blast, and as you interact with more members you will talk more with some than others, you are fine!

Apologies if i ruffled some feathers there guys--guess it's a woman's prerogative to go off the deep end sometime--didn't know about the dictionary of terms--thanks--and to blow off steam what did i do?--of course filled the canyon with maple and oak! will give the gtg some consideration and in the meantime find me splitting those rounds! ha!
