cwn877 and I talked about the event at work today. It's looking like a blast! We'll try and do some tree climbing, some chainsaw milling, some milling on the vintage Frick roundblade mill, chainsaw racing, bucking and splitting, we're planning on doing a pig roast and other goodies cooked on the grille, a bonfire probably both Friday and Saturday evenings...... I sure hope we have a good turnout!!
Was curious as to what king of logs you'd have set up. I know from past GTGs @ Chucks that we sure do enjoy making cookies
Guess I better bring my gear. Will I need the 200T for in-tree cutting? Anyone bringing a guitar for pickin' around the fire?
And, by the way, I was able to move that bucketload about 250 feet without losing it,,,,,,,,, it was like carrying a stack of marshmalows..lol
I'm not certain on what logs we are going to use I have a bunch of oak and locust to make into firewood billets. If I don't have anything that will work I'll talk with the guy I sell logs to he gets some that they can't mill or are not worth it. My brother in-law plays guitar some and would probably bring his to join in with ya. He has a banjo too but no one here can play it well.
As for posting on other forums we decided to keep this in the fhc family. We are not against a member bringing a non member and I will have some neighbors and family at it just want to keep it simple and somewhat small for our first year and then go from there.
Oh, But I don't think you understand...................The more the merrier... Last year we had roughly 65 people, saw nutz, kidz, family, neighbors, ect................2X the year before...(the 1st. year) 3 states represented.. Clean wood, off of the ground, space, are your friends for a GTG..
OK, planning to add this to the calendar. Where is it located any any details I need to post in the blurb?
Hey Chris, didn't you have a big pine that needs to come down? Would the logs off of that work for the big saw stuff?
Yeah but it's a hemlock don't really want to cut cookies out of it. I think there maybe a couple storm damaged ones though.
