I gave those Duluth firehose pants for Christmas presents last year to my sons. One of them really liked his, the other complained of the way they fit. (he is really skinny). That extra material that makes them "ball room" gives them flex so they don't rip out so fast, or pull on you when you squat. Yes, they cost a lot more, but they are comfortable and they last.
We bought 5.11 tactical pants (I think we have their Stryke model) for our work uniform and they have been fantastic. They are probably lighter than what the OP is looking for but hard to beat for an everyday work pant.
I have 1 pair of 5.11 and I don't like them for one reason-- my wallet is halfway down to my knee. The Proppers have a wallet pocket inside the giant rear pockets.
Not a problem for me but I have a feeling you are quite a bit taller than me too. But wallet rides in my back pocket only as a last resort as I HATE sitting on it.
I have a regular pair of flannel lined dickies. Since we have to wear FR at work and 100% cotton underneath I will occasionally wear cotton pajama pants underneath my fr.
I have used lined LL Bean jeans for a couple years now. I believe they are a relaxed fit. I have worked the hell out of them and like them. Knees are now tearing but I can still wear them until I get some new lined jeans for Christmas! I'm deciding which ones to ask my wife to get me too.
Old habits are hard to break, but I did it years ago. I found out that wallets can cause back pain.BBC NEWS | Health | Is your wallet a pain in the back? I use a thin wallet, the style is a flat one like a checkbook that I carry in my front pocket. I wear loose fitting pants so it isn't an issue.
I was looking at those. None of the other brands come in a small enough size. I'll mention it to the wife since Christmas is coming up.
Can you tell me more? I usually buy him the $15 ones from walmart and I do not see an extra gusset in those. Where do you buy your wranglers, and are the denim?
Depending on what you need I love my fleece lined dickies car hart and ll bean. I hate long Johns.... but fleeces lined are bomb.. car hart and bean lasting at least twice as long as dickies for 20 bucks
I have a couple pair of the military rain pants I picked up at a thrift store. Tough as nails, double layer on knees & butt , stay dry kneeling or sitting on the ground. I put them over what ever I have on , best work pants I've ever used.
Wrangler "Riggs Workwear has the gusseted crotch. http://www.amazon.com/Riggs-Workwea...8&qid=1448914232&sr=8-3&keywords=Gusset+Jeans
Wrangler fleece lined are really good but the denim wears out fast in a true work environment. I used to work in extreme below zero temps and found that the best outer wear for me was the unlined dickey or Work and Sport pants or bibs. Put them on over a pair of blue jeans when you get outta the truck and take them off at the days end. I used to pay the big bucks for carhartts but found that they didn't hold up any better than the 2 brands mentioned above in a construction environment. Just remember to match your clothing to the work you are planning on doing and how much energy you are going to put out. In extreme cold, sweat is your biggest enemy. Don't over insulate yourself. Don't forget to remember that you need freedom of movement when doing what you are doing. Kinda hard to get any work done when a guy is waddlein round like the Michelin man.
