thanks to honeyfuzz i now have another husky in the stable, he and i met about 7 months ago when he came out to buy my 162se, since that time he and i have been wheel'n and deal'n a lot since then, and i couldn't pass up the offer he made me on the 66, eventually i'll bring it back to stock configuration, but until then, it will become a 272 for a while, got the saw all cleaned up as well as the 272 cylinder (which i may grind on a little), waiting for a meteor piston i ordered and a couple other small parts, hope to have this one up and sceam'n by this weekend, i'll keep y'all posted, it's currant state waiting on parts...........
Dang I know how hard honeyfuzz was looking for a 66 builder too. GLWB My memory is fading on where they are all going, but think I mailed this one to Finland. 1989 300th
yeah, i felt kinda bad buying the saw under the circumstances that fuzz is going through at the moment, but then again, he knows where the saw is, and i'd give him first crack at it if/when i decide to sell it............
i see you have three 61's in your sig, have you done any top end swaps on them?, this will be my forth in this series of saws, my first was a j-red 625II that i installed a 272 top end on, then a 61 got the same treatment, another 61 that now has a 268 cylinder with a 266 pop up piston, and now this 66, they're easy to do and well worth it...........
o.k., meteor in, decided not to grind on this one and left the base gasket in as well, wanted to see how well it runs without mods first..............
intake tract in, tried the 272 carb first, but as you can see the throttle shaft/idle stop doesn't work out, so out it came and in went the 66 carb.............
top cover fit nicely, and after letting it break in for a while, it really feels strong as is, now to get the bar and chain back on and give her a good run'n........overall, this build went very easy and quick, can't ask for much more than that, well except maybe doing a little port work to it, but i think the saw is going to run great just the way it is...........
I knew it would get the treatment it deserved from you buddy !!! I was sad when it left.... But this makes me happy . I will have to come down and run that puppy sometime lol ! Nice work buddy !!!!
That turned out nicely. I sold off a very nice 61 builder last year. Kind of kicking myself now. Nice work.
question for ya kevin, according to mike acres site the 66 was produced in 1980, the one you sold clearly is from 1989, that's a 9 year stretch, i don't see how the 66 could be so uncommon if it was sold for nine years or more, my guess is that mikes info on the 66 is incorrect and would still like to know what year or years the 66 was available.............i'll dig up my serial number off of mine and post it a little later
acres site info is wrong on alot of stuff. But he wont correct it when given the right info. The right info is in the 66 thread on CSR. I dont remember off hand myself. Will give it a look later. update edit info in this 66 thread. http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/husqvarna/husqvarna-66/
I had mistaken you for someone else over there. There was to much for me to copy. Rest in PM why so you can narrow it down.
