We talk about our favs all the time lets here about your 3 most hated pellets. Mine where okie platniums, awf white pine and barefoots.
Platniums filled the stove with wet black soot and creosote , awf white pines where loaded with fines so bad they jammed the auger. And barefoots would not burn at all for me no matter what setting no matter how clean the stove was
Not sure I have a top three but Pennington's from about 7 years ago or so were HORRIBLE. Zero heat and some pellets were in the 3" range. To their defense, they did reimburse me for the ton.
I see what your saying about the AWF, but they burned awesome with very low ash. I love them. But I have zero issues burning fines, different strokes for different folks. Worst were the original Infernos, Lee Energy and Wood Fibers Inc.
Michigan wood fuels. Don't see to many folks from my area. Most of The pellets you guys talk about, I have never seen.
Welcome to the forum, Dpopps There have been discussions in the past of the terrible Michigan pellets. My worst would be original Infernos, North American (aka Curran) hardwoods, and Appling County (Fram).
Ouyy, Lemme see. Uhhh Tree Cycle has too be the worst ever. Next was the 1st run of MWP. Then Lake region and ACP tied with Michigan's. Worst ever heat was Inferno's! But honestly everyone of them was cleaner than the leave(oops Leaf!!) pellets I burned. 4 50 pound bags filled my 1 ton plus ash pan! But at least they had more heat then them Inferno's!!
Even the crappy pellets burn good in the gasification boiler on top of a good thick red bed of coals!
When I had the Napoleon, it hated Energex. I didn't buy any of those first run MWP, but they were not called MWP, they were called Athens. Sold in a white bag with a green state of Maine on the front, as "Premium Wood Pellets" These pellets were no where near "premium" The company had a huge Awakening and changed things around a lot. Now called MWP and soil in different bags. One for the box store, and one for the pellet outlets, MWP are now suitable to burn the whole season, not just a shoulder pellet.
Always wondered If that was possible as I would rake leaves in the cold and think about warming up in front of the stove.
