So far I have bought 3 Chinese saws all have gone poof in a relatively short period of time. I read about guys who love theirs and swear by them but I have had terrible luck with all except the earthquake saws. Today I found a Jon Cutter top handle for $166 and I have the itch to try it out... Its more of a curiosity thing for me I don't buy china saws to last but rather I buy them to play with and see.

This saw has a huge following from my little bit of reading this morning and actually looks like it might be a good saw instead of my last few Chinese saws. Do any of you have a Jon cutter G2500? What are your thoughts on it? I rarely use a top handle but this could fit the bill for a marking saw or even get used for limbing if it doesn't blow up on me.

Well, after building my farmertec "MS660" kit I can say for certain that it would not have lasted long if I hadn't inspected (and all too often tweaked parts...and in some cases just replaced with OEM) I suspect that any of the cheap chinese saws are really hit or miss...probably more miss in the long run.
No help on the JC G2500 though...never heard of them before.

I have a g3800. After some frustration with it in the beginning, it has turned out to be a great, lightweight, limbing saw. When I first got it, it would run good for a couple minutes and then start bogging in the cut. Finally figured out it had a faulty gas tank vent. After I ripped the guts out of the vent and muffler modded it…it screams. Definitely a better saw than the box store homeowner saws. Stihl ms180c won’t come anywhere close to it either. Also have the holzfforma g660 and g444…no problem with either and have cut 6-8 cords with each. Time will tell the real story. Also have an x-bull that I bought out of curiosity…just to see what a an$80 62cc saw is like. With the muffler gutted it will hang with my ms361…although it is cheating…only pulling .325 chain. Ms 361 pulling 3/8.

    Thans fellas!

I did a little snooping on the web and figured out that Farmertec makes the Jon Cutter saws and lists them on their site. I might just bite on this one.  I haven't had a Farmertec saw yet that I am aware of. The Mrs rolled her eyes and said why? When I told her last night.
