I got a truckload of Ash from the town dump on Friday - the log I cut my rounds from was huge - 33 inches in diameter. I had to cut each round into quarters so I could lift the wood into the truck bed. My Chinese Husky 372xp with 24” bar did a fine job. Today I split the wood and see that I found. Yup, that coulda hurt!

Good to find it that way instead of with the saw.

Always happier when I find metal when splitting vs when cutting

Yep, cost me $50 to find out the neighbor used stainless nails on his oak tree 40-50 years ago LOL.

X2. Last metal i hit was a nice spike the saw sliced through with the 28" bar. :headbang: Lots of filing!

I tipped over a Beech tree about 30" a few years ago in the middle of the woods. I notched it and went at the back cut, I cut the off side then the other side (I had a 20" bar) I was chasing the hinge when the saw quit cutting. I was committed so I dug in the dogs and worried my way through it. It fell over just fine, but I cut through a nail horizontally. Brand new chain too. The squirrels and other critters learned a few new words that day.
