After I finished splitting the Pine I went for a small walk, I think this tree is a topped off Yellow Birch which I'll try and get next weekend.

Is that horizontal tree in the background any good?

Looks like a yellow/golden birch to me. I usually mix it in with the maple and/or cherry. Seasons and burns pretty good split in half. I don't get one very often but there are a few here. If they are dead standing / in decline I usually leave them for the woodpeckers and bugs.
Bark can reflect the sun when low in the sky all shiny and glistening sometimes.

I planned on pulling two maples out of the swamp today ( was out there yesterday checking it out ) It got way too warm and muddy too quick .:(

It's another White Pine that has been like that for two years, it will go towards the shoulder season wood or for the outdoor fireplace.

Yellow birch is good stuff. Just need to get it before it punks out, which unfortunately happens all too fast.

About three days for a total of 14 miles, hunting season was still going on so the county trails were closed..........we hit the trails on our property but about a week later it was 70 out.

Hang in there zap, more snow will come even if we have to wait until March to see it.

I keep thinking the same Dennis.
We may have 5-6" on the ground so far, so I would expect at least a few more before we're done.

Maybe if I put the chains on the front tires of the Rhino, we'll get hit with a chit load of snow.
