Almost seven weeks since I ordered a load. I'm off this week so this arriving this morning was just in time.
Mostly beech with some maple and birch. Didn't see any oak, which is all I got last year. Love the beech.
    All 16 footers, or thereabouts.

I cut split and piled a bit and then the radar started showing showers moving in so I quit for the day. Tomorrow looks iffy too.

An annual tradition. I'd take beech over oak in a heartbeat You may need another vacation after processing all that. Of course a week of making firewood would be a great vacation for me! :loco:
Wanna see pics of the progress.

Me too. I was disappointed last year when he brought all oak. I did a split and MM test the other day on one of the bigger oak splits and it was at 22%. The basement's full now and the dehumidifier running to dry it down some more.

I'm off again middle of next month so I'll finish the pile off then. I'll post update pics every third or fourth day so i don't burn up FHC's servers.

Pretty straight grain and dries faster than oak. I think it burns just as well. Smooth bark so less places for critters to hide.
I'd be on the lookout all the time for tarantula's on some of the black locust bark that Brad posts pic's of.

Beach, oak and sweet chestnut are all the same family of plants.

You definitely need to come east a bit to a GTG.

Just make sure you pick a place to stay that is closer to Dennis' place. Good times to be had.

That's going to make a pile of chips when you get done. Not to mention some future BTU'S.

Got a little more than two rows done in the last four days. I've done much better but have slowed down the last couple of years. Taking breaks more often.
Steady as she goes wins the race.

Splitter is working great, no issues.

Back at work this last week and wasn't able to do anything after work the first four days because of showers. Friday was the first day it wasn't raining when I got home so I split some rounds I had cut up the previous weekend. Then today I had a pretty good day.
Almost got the second last row done. Then fill up the two openings and the shed's full.
Next is piling the rest in the barn.

    IMG_8742.JPG

    The pile's getting down there.

I definitely do sit in the chair and admire the stacks! It's nice to look at the fruits of your labor.
I'll be working in the woodpile today and tomorrow. We get Labor Day up here too.
After next week I'm off again on holidays so I'll get it finished up then.

I like admiring my stacks too. I often "tour" them before leaving and am done for the time being.
Enjoy your labor day my friend!
