Thinking of buying a tractor, haven't bought yet, still shopping. Found this -- 2007 Yanmar 4×4, backhoe, disc, bushhog, root rake, box blade, 16 foot trailer with winch. I think all of the implements are 5' size. Photo shows it is Cub Cadet Yanmar make. (EDIT: He is asking $14,000, I forgot to add the price!) That looks like a good price to me. Any knowledge or opinions of 2007 Yanmar? I regret I cannot tell you what model or how much horsepower because seller did not say and he has not answered my PM yet. I also regret to report that there is no Yanmar dealer here, nearest is 135 miles away, 2:15 drive time. Two others that I am attracted to are a John Deere and a Massey Ferguson and both have a dealer 35 minutes from me. Attached is pic of the Yanmar.
I've seen a few of these around. They appear to be workhorses. I've heard nothing but good about yanmar.
Yanmar is a well known Japanese engine and tractor manufacturer. They make a lot of John Deere’s engines, and even some of the JD machines themselves, that get re labeled and painted green. The one you linked is a from a partnership with MTD, a well known American lawn and garden manufacturer who bought out several garden tractor companies. I’m not familiar with the model, but with any used tractor you have to be careful about past maintenance (especially the engine and hydraulic system), and how worn out it is in general. Often tractors get used hard and put away wet. So even a “newish” machine can be best to snots.
Yanmarr has made a ton of compact John Deere tractors over the years and I’m sure you’d buy one of them. Save some money and buy the Yanmar. Order parts online and enjoy your tractor!
This is a good assessment! Properly maintaining a hydrostatic tractor can be expensive and takes a lot of time. I haven’t paid good attention to greasing my tractors, I’m trying to keep better records. I bet a lot of people don’t maintain them properly especially if they sit outside.
Yanmar has been building nice tractors for a long time. I had a friend that had one he loved back in the early 80’s. It’s prudent to check on parts availability before buying anything used like that, but if that’s not an issue and it’s been well maintained I’d be all over it if it’s what you want. You can buy a lot of parts for the price difference over new.
Ok, I talked to the gent that owns it and he doesn't know the model number, he wasn't near the tractor or the paperwork. He said it's 32hp. Has 2 new front tires, 2 new blades on Bushhog, tractor has 1,000 hours. He changed oil every 200 hours. The trailer has brakes. He winches the tractor onto the trailer, he has a receiver hitch on the FEL I think is what he said. I wish it were a little bigger but at least it's 32hp. All that equipment sure seems a good deal. He said he paid $24k for the tractor and bushhog.
Take pictures when you pick it up. You also be able to see the model number then. didn’t see a price but sounds like a winner if the price is gooder. Heard good things bout Yanmar in the little tractor research I’ve done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I can't believe I forgot to put price in, OP now edited, ask is $14k for all. Do you guys think a John Deere dealer would work on this tractor if needed? Also, if this FEL is NOT quick-attach type, could you retrofit to get quick-attach? Do you have to get an entirely new FEL or just part of it? I might would want pallet forks, too. Quick-attach feature seems great for someone like me who works alone.
Can’t answer about the QA for sure, but around here, most dealers will work on whatever. Check and see I guess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
One of the guys I worked with back in the late 90's had a Yanmar similar in size, I don't remember exactly what model. He had nothing but great things to say about it. He and his dad did construction jobs on the side and used it a lot on those projects.
Sounds like a good price. Not to bad on the hrs. You can do a lot with 32 hp. Our Kubota os 30 hours. Yes ,on rhe FEL there are several options to change it over to QA. Titan Attachment has the QA plate that can be welded on, other companies offer the complete pin on QA plate. I'm looking at those options myself.
I have one of the old Grey model yanmars. Yanmar is a top quality tractor. That year your looking at, assuming the guy didn't get screw by a reconditioned and sold a 30 year old tractor as new as some believed, should be the black and yellow Yanmars, as said it was a joint venture when Yanmar tractors returned to the US market between Cub Cadet and Yanmar. It only lasted a handful of years till Yanmar entirely made its own line again and went to red tractors. I know the new ones and old ones when they sold in the USA the first time were expensive. I don't know much about the newer ones, but know there still good units. I am more of an amateur expert on the older models. I actually have two of the classics. One Grey model and one made for us market YM186 that's a project. Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
