I searched this forum but didn't find much on this model Fiskars. I am needing something small to do spot testing for moisture content on splits. I'm tired of carrying around my maul and my hatchet gets stuck too much. I ordered a Fiskars X11 Splitting Axe (17") yesterday, it should come in the next couple days. I'll post up my impressions and experience with it once I get to use it some.

Interesting. I've had the same experience with my hatchet. I sometimes try to hand split myself kindling and/or check moisture on seasoning wood.

I'll be interested to see how you like it too, I almost ordered one the other day. Then I decided that the Estwing splitting hatchet would be better, I haven't bought either yet......

I've been curious about that one for splitting kindling to get campfires and such started. The X27 would just end up chopping my hand off but the X7 hatchet gets stuck or fails to split most of the time.

I have not done a bunch of splitting yet. The X11 came in Saturday. I split some larger oak splits with it, one shot and they split easy. I had some 6" Cherry Rounds and it took two swings to split them. The nice thing was the X11 didn't get stuck like a regular hatchet. Smaller diameter rounds it split in one shot easily. I am satisfied with the X11 and it seems to fill the gap I had to split small stuff quickly.
