I just had a new customer come to me. He bought a Heatilator from another dealer. After numerous issues with it the selling dealer had him install a butterfly damper in the 3" exhaust. WTF? I seen the pictures.

But on a positive pressure exhaust, it's a very bad idea.

Not acceptable at all. If a stove is going to be slowed down? It needs to be down on the intake side of things (like most stoves have), or be able to adjust the flow with the blowers voltage.

Woodstove mentality still lives in the pellet stove world.

For instance, Many still tell their customers a hardwood pellet is better than a softwood!! And they should by no means burn softwoods in there stove!!

Install a damper or two and a magic heat with a bunch of adapters to get the 3 inch up to 6 inch. That helps to get the most from your heating dollar....

    Sorry. I couldn't resist.

I've read so many stories about what a buyer has been told, I have to wonder why pellet stoves don't have a worse reputation. I'm glad I'm hitched up to this forum. Also the folks at Rocky's Stove Shop. I don't get a line of BS.

Yeh I did not read well,I meant a restriction on the intake, like they do in europe, also so you can shut outside air off when stove is not running.Never had hardwood pellets out here,so do not know.Don't forget-Lousy-dishwasher is good for cleaning carbs!
