There may be some other fireview owners on here but you two are the ones I know of. So a fireview popped up on marketplace which is a total rarity around my neck of the woods. My question is did they ever make a fireview with a solid soapstone front, no window? I looked on woodstocks site and don’t see an option for that. Also the name is FIREVIEW, would think you would be able to view the fire, ya know? Thanks.

The seller responded and said yes, it’s a solid front. No glass. Hmm, never knew.

Hmm, look at that. Must of missed it on their site. The stove would be a focal point of our kitchen so I definitely want the window. Too bad though, looks to be in great shape and only asking 450.

It's a very early version of the soapstone concept. I forget what year these started or the year they ended. But they do exist. No Cat, just a big soapstone box. A Soapstone quarry of high quality was developed in Francestown New Hampshire in 1868 and eventually that stove you pictured was one of the products that evolved.

I know there are others in NH still warming homes up there, not far from where the Woodstock Soapstone company is today.

That is the ugliest stove I have ever seen. Seems like it would take a long time to get heat out of it. The soapstone has to absorb some heat first. Not saying it wouldn't work, just super ugly.

Those do pop up from time to time. Although they are no longer produced, Woodstock would still service them.

That stove fell out of the picture after they started making the Fireview.

You ain’t kidding it’s ugly! I’m sure some people wouldn’t mind especially if it was purely for heat in a basement or something but mine is going to be a centerpiece to my kitchen along with being a heater. I do love the look of the fire view and would make one work(maybe only temporarily) if it was had for cheap but I think a progress hybrid may be a better fit for my needs.

I recently found a couple Classics for sale near me. One was really old and had no baffle or cat and they were asking $650. The other one was in good shape and had the baffle and cat but they wanted $1500! I offered $800 and they never responded. Personally I like the looks and wish it was a Fireview option.

Too bad you weren’t closer. This one looks to be in great shape at a very good price.
