We made a trip today to get more oak logs. It was a bigger pile this time. We stopped on the way home and topped off with more oak and other hardwood. I don’t have an actual tally of how much yet, but it’s a nice stack. I did snap some pictures in the dark…. I unloaded both trucks and the flatbed. The manure spreader will get unloaded tomorrow. The spreader is 12 ft long and about 6 ft wide. It used to be a big tank spreader. Now my brother uses it for scrap and we haul firewood in it. It holds lots of wood. I think it holds about 2.5 cord if stacked halfway decent and mounded. It’s as full as it can get right now, so probably real close to that 2.5 cord mark. I would guess I grossed out at about 20k and my brother was around 26k. Probably around 25k lbs of wood, mostly oak. We will be going back for more!
Yep. Makes it so much easier. The only downside is having to haul it and losing the space on the trailer.
Now all you need is a dump trailer!!!! Follow me for more tips on how I can help you spend your money. Totally kidding.
What money? I am trying to keep equipment weight down and cargo space up. I have been seriously considering putting the bobcat on the truck to save trailer space. It fits, but it looks like a skyscraper and I have to drop the trailer to load/unload. The bobcat weighs about 4k, so putting on the truck is doable if I keep the tongue weight under ~1,000 lbs. The weight wouldn’t be much different than filling the truck with wood, and the center of gravity would be pretty much the same too.
