Ahh, been watching my FB. Saw a very interesting ad for 150 rolls of foam rubber for free. Love the price. Blurry pic, not sure exactly what to make of it but worth a look. At that price you can be assured there was interest. I grabbed one roll just to come away with something. If no one else was there I would have took more but as is it was hard enough to muscle this thing around everyone else and into the trailer. This particular roll is thin foam rubber with a plastic backing. Waterproof but as far as wear no where as tough as rubber roofing. Still it wil work for an undetermined amount of time. I was hoping to find a roll of straight rubber in the pile but nope. I’m guessing that’s 5000 sq ft on that roll. Anyone in the area interested in trying to get some? 79 Enfield Rd Enfield Ct. till 3.00pm today. Could be a little late. Company closes at 4.00 Otherwise try again Monday. I imagine it’s going fast but,,,,,,,never know unless you try. I might even go back
And another ad for free lawnmower. Yes wood related. I only want the front beam, yokes and kingpins for my splitter project. The rest can go to the scrap yard. Had planned on fashioning all those pieces from scratch. Now I don’t have too I will cut and widen, lengthen the yokes to accept a better/larger pair of tires. That’s easy with a couple pieces of angle iron.
Nice grab. I would definitely make the trek up to Enfield for that but I'm stuck down here in Middletown for a couple more hours.... plus I took the bike in today. I don't foresee myself going down I-91 with a roll like that duct taped to my handlebars
If I do make it back Monday morning, and there’s anything left, I’ll grab ya a roll. Doesn’t look promising tho. People are lining up.
That’s one of the few uses I could think of for it. Not sure if underlayment is ever designed to be waterproof though. Seems counterintuitive but I’m no expert in that field. Many variations on the theme and I would think there’d be some that resemble your average carpet underlayment. There weren’t. Also thought about underlayment in auto or boat uses but 150 rolls of it is a ton of overhead. Was once a tire shop for many years. Recently an Acme auto parts and hairdresser. Now a vape shop and used tire shop. These were stored in the basement. A conveyor to get them out. Space could have been rented to anyone for anything. I’m a little stumped.
I commend you for finding what others would most likely just toss in the trash and making use of it! I did the same the other day - picked up a whole bunch of pretty useful pieces of plywood that had been sitting in this lady's basement for the last 50 years (it had that old-been-sitting-for-50-years smell to it) and also took down a 18' pallet. When the guy on FB got in touch with me he said "You better bring some manpower to take it apart!" and I said "Don't worry! I got it!" and brought my $50 pallet buster (which, btw, is wide enough to straddle two 2x4 so it worked out awesome). Took it apart in less than 15 minutes and now I got me some nice lumber for free!! I'm thinking I could make a nice wall mounted workbench inside the garage with these materials alone.
I’ve been limping my push mower around for the past year... saw this out to the road, noticed the Cub Cadet logo and stopped. It wasn’t seized so I loaded it up. Got it home, put gas in it, topped off the oil and it started first pull! The deck has a couple holes but the price if right. My kind of deal.
Nice grab. I see scrap metal! Now see Eric if you hoarded more wood you wouldnt have grass to worry about mowing!
Right now some guys standing there with a gas can wondering where his lawnmower went LOL oddly enough we have one road in the center of town that people, for some unknown reason, have determined the best place to store things is on the side of the road. Lawnmowers, bicycles, child strollers etc etc. Always see stuff left out there, overnight, for days. Occasionally see a request on the town FB page for someone to return their property. I get a chuckle out of it all the time.
Thanks for throwing that out there, but unfortunately you're at the other end of the state. Definitely keeping my eyes open for stuff like this though.
The universe provides. Last week it was the Cub Cadet push mower, today it was an entire spare deck that’s the same 42” as the one on my Craftsman lawn tractor. Oddly enough, the belt for mine recently went kaput so I took the belt off this one and put it on mine. Back in business! I’m still debating whether to keep the deck or bring it to the dump tomorrow along with some other junk I’ve been hanging on to. The deck is in good shape, only one pulley is frozen. I’m sure I can fiddle with it to make it work again. Maybe just save the blades off this one as spares? I’ll sleep on it. Regardless, happy to get a free belt and the tractor back in working order.
Junkyard fodder??? Got $45 today for cast iron and steel that wouldve gone in the dumpster on the job i was working.
