    What kind of wood is this? It looks like cherry but the neighbors telling me otherwise.

    Looks like cherry from here. Those splits should have a sweet smell to them.

    He said it was some kind of tree in the olive family? I'm pretty new to the whole tree identification thing but thought he was WAY off!

    Didn’t think of that one... was thinking of the 500 year old olive trees they have in the old country.

    yeah. I just don’t trust an oyster that grows up more than 1000 miles from the ocean... ;)

    I don't think bark or split face looks particularly like Cherry..what does it smell like on a fresh split? Cherry fragrance is unmistakable.
