Wood ID app

Anyone use it? My BIL had one that worked and I’m thinking it would be cool to have.

Well shoot. Not sure it’s worth $30 a year to me. I shoulda known…

 

I use the "Picture This" app, and it's free, but only works for the leaves of the tree, not the wood itself.
...& I think it works for flowers too.

 

There are quite a few of id apps out there but I think the best one hands down is "picture this" Being an environmental science teacher, I take them outside and have them id trees as part of an ecosystem field walk lab and even though I tell them not to use any apps, I always find some using them and it's right much more often than the others out there.

 

How do I get the free app? This appears to be a 7 day free trial only.

 

WW, I get this screen and I just click on 'cancel' in the upper right corner of the screen. Then, it gives me this screen: ...and then it works.
It's been working for me for a couple of years. Let me know how you make out.

I dont have a smart phone and wouldnt pay it either. Dont blame you.

 

Google lens is free. Not foolproof though.
