While we were in the midst of the last cold snap, I had the kicker stove fired up and we were playing cards while enjoying the radiant heat choochin off of it. I fired up for the last time that afternoon by putting 4 bricks of the above mentioned product in while 99 was upstairs grabbing some refreshments.

When she came back down, she was wondering just why in the world I put those bricks into the fire? Did you learn that on your firewood site?

Anyway, they lasted for awhile...probably a bit longer than regular firewood, but I would rather use real wood than compressed sawdust.

When I buy a ton of the ENVI Blocks, it runs me $299. There are 15 packages with 3 blocks per package per row. A total of 315 blocks. The average weight is 6 to 7 lbs. They are more than worth the cost in my book. I've purchased products from TSC and they have been cheaper like the price you have listed, but a far inferior product. Personally I don't know Menard's and what they carry. To know whether it's worth it, I'd want to know the name brand of the product. ENVI Blocks and I'd be all over them. Same quality as the ones I've purchased at TSC, then I'd say a waste of money.

Where are you buying the ENVI blocks? And by inferior, are they lighter, made of inferior wood dust or what? Curious because TSC is close to me and the place I have seen them in the past and would try those on except for your post.....

I think I am going to run out of firewood this season and some type of processed blocks may be a crutch to get me through this winter. The OP's price of $155 / ton is pretty attractive because that would be somewhere around $250 / cord (rough guess here) and that is within tolerable prices for 'firewood'.

I buy them from a place in Warwick near Hendricken. If you are interested, I can PM you his number. He does not have the blocks anymore. He does have the ENVI 8's where are the size of a brick. The ENVI product is a much more solid product that is made of quality. The ones at TSC are flaky and more like cardboard. Feel free to check them out.

Menards seems to be in a 'swath' through the north / center of the US and <most> of us ('Mericans) do not have access to those stores. Too bad too 'cause they have some outstanding prices on manufactured building supplies that I could have used in a BIG way recently. Hey, we just gots' us a Tractor Supply Store a few years back. Why 'afore dat, I rekons we was mostly Sears kinda' peoples. :)

I grew up over that and know the area well. But it will not do me much good if the guy does not have any more to sell. Thanks for the offer though.

these are what I have, they are from Tractor Supply, regular price $3.49, on sale now at $3.00.
I like to have some around, when I need heat in between loads, I put two or three on top of the coals, will heat hotter and longer than any hardwood I have around for their size .,
I have heard that the larger ones, from Tractor Supply are inferior but then again, I don't know because the smaller ones are the only ones I have ever had

Note two different packs from the same palette, different names on the package but the same things stamped on the edge, these are 6 in a pack.
