So my buddy at work mentions this dish from a local tavern in NH. It is a mac n cheese with pulled pork on top. I've yet to try it, but the description was worthy of trying to make it. I fired the oven on cedar splits and then added small oak and elm splits. It took about 45 minutes to get to temp and my wife prepped the main dish. I raked the coals out to soak heat into the floor of the oven. There were some nice coals to move around I put baked beans in a crock and cornbread was put up in a pan. Into the oven they went for about 45 minutes and we're rotated half way through. Checking in on things. Everything was piping hot and the cheese and beans were bubbling over. This will be a good meal this fall. It is definitely a keeper.
Not ham, although ham would have been excellent. It is pan fried hot dogs. Momma bear did not have coffee before shopping this morning, and kielbasa did not make it into the cart. I did not argue the point though.
Oh, wow Jon!! That looks and sounds incredible! You'll be happy to hear I finally have decided to pull the trigger and dig my footer for my stone oven in a month. I'll be sure to consult with you and do a thread on the build!!
That's great news. I'll be looking forward to the build thread and food pictures. I know you love food and fire, so it will be another facet of cooking you will enjoy. If you can get it built by the fall, I think that is the best time of year to enjoy it. Stews, roasts, pies, rolls, etc. Make it happen brother!
Trust me fishingpol ill,be picking your brain on this project. I need to know your recipe for the refractory.....
