I put a seasoned roast, carrots, potatoes and onions in the slow cooker this morning and picked up a #8 cast iron pan at the scrapyard. I got it cleaned up and ready. About 5:00 pm I started the mud oven on white cedar and sugar maple. Some oak was added after a while, and it heated for 45 minutes. The coals were spread around to heat the oven floor. Loaded and the water-soaked wood door went up. Here the rolls are done in 20 minutes. Pie was done about 45 minutes later. It was a great recipe. It could have used a bay leaf though.
Perfect meal with the cooler temps! Once the wind direction changes from Scotty Overkill s place, up to the NE, I suspect a drooling hound will be pictured, if DaveGunter gets it in time.
I find this a day later and the smell is still in the air. Looking good as usual. I really like the way the rolls turned out.
