Curious to know if anyone has any experience burning Russian Olive. Have an opportunity to get quite a bit in the 8” to 16” range. Wondering how it burns, what kind of heat it produces, how it splits, etc. Any info greatly appreciated.

I've never burned any except in brush piles, but I am betting it won't be very good.

Ask MagCraft, it burns well. It's a hardwood and splits very nicely (which is surprising looking at it). Out here in WY, we take advantage of any we can find. When I'm at the dump, I take any straight sections I can find.

I may cut a small load just to see how it behaves in a few years. I’d think it would be better better than cedar or pine for heat, and I have some of that in the stacks. Can’t hurt to try it I guess.

It's wood. It splits, stacks and burns just fine!

Cuts good, splits good, dry time is decent. It burns very good but stinks like a bad cigar so I burnt it at night.

Agreed. It burns very well. Puts out good heat, but smells like an old stogie. I burn a little bit of it from time to time.

Thanks for the replies. I’m going to cut a face cord or so and give it a try in a couple of years.
