I have recently had a new wood burner installed, I am having difficulty with the draw and I feel that the Installation has not been done correctly. I am in the process of a renovation.

When the fire is burning well, once the door opens the flames rise out through the top of the door. (only by an inch or so)
I have been looking online and I feel that the flue and the angle is not correct. I have attached a picture so any advice is welcome.

    Thanks in advance [IMG]

Welcome to the forum tabz89, you've come to the right place for advice.

I don't see anything wrong with the install, but I'm pretty new to this myself.
I think you could be having draft problems, not pulling enough air through the chimney.

    How tall is your chimney?
Insulated Stainless Steel or does your install go to a lined masonry chimney?

I'm sure many with better advice than myself will be along shortly to help you out.

Once again, welcome to the site.

Not familiar with that stove. Looks like it is a front loader and a large door at that. If so, those tend to be a bit finicky for smoke or flames coming out when opening the door.

However, if you have flames coming out the door, I'd say you are opening the door way sooner than normal as most times when opening the door there should only be coals in the firebox. Also, are you careful to open the draft fully and wait a minute or three before opening the firebox door, and then opening the door very slowly at first? Doing this will establish a better draft so that as you open the door, it will want to suck air in rather than let smoke or flames out.

On the install, the only thing is depending on the thimble. Is the chimney going straight up after going through the wall or does it go further horizontal before going up. Needs 1/4 to 1/2" rise per foot of horizontal. Also, are there more elbows than the 2? Now tall is the chimney. Generally should be 15' but then add a couple feet for every 90 degree bend. So 2 elbows generally means you need 19' of chimney. But this is only generally speaking. Sometimes you can get by with less (we have less) and sometimes you need more. Just like a damper in the flue; sometimes it is needed but most times it is not, especially with the newer epa stoves.

I also was going to ask how tall is your chimney? I have a feeling you could be too short
