I read an article the other day that was talking about women and cold and why offices tend to be colder for them than men. The article stated that women tend to have a lower core body temperature than men. That might be why we are cold when men are saying it is just right for them. I know I like the house to be a toasty 80 to 82 F and feel very comfortable. How is it for couples here; do the men find that their wives/girlfriends like the house warmer than they do? I can't take the cold but don't mind the summer heat that much.

My wife has a narrower comfort zone than I do. I can take both cold and heat better than she can.

What gets me in our office is the drafts. There is always a fan going to circulate the air and no matter where the desks are situated, you sit under a vent and in a draft. I have circulation problems so my hands and wrists really ache at times. I always have a sweater or jacket to wear at work.

At home, we have hot water registers that evenly heat the house with no drafts and it is easier for me to stay warm.

My wife is just the opposite I like it warm in the house she likes it cooler.

When we first met we were spending a winter Sunday on the couch watching movies relaxing. I had the stove going all day. I ended up napping for a bit and she woke up up telling me it’s over 80 in the house she thought something was wrong. I looked at her and said it’s nice isn’t it? For years she lived in an old farm house appt that had a terribly inefficient furnace she would keep the thermostat at 55 and walk around dressed like the kid from the Christmas story inside.

My wife and I like the same thermostat settings, about 72 year round.

I’m a maintenance mechanic for a school with an old heating system. It’s very hard keeping everyone happy.

Back when I was still working, we had a area where 12 women shared a common- open work area, in a office setting. It was insane as to how many times we were called down there with whining and belly aching between co-workers over "It's too hot............it's too cool. This area was centrally computer controlled for all of the HVAC. We got together one week end when the area was un-occupied, and installed 4 "dummy" wall thermostats. The following week it was "let the games begin" and the number of "heat" calls dropped off to nil after that..........................PROBLEM SOLVED !!!!!!!!!

Same scenario here. Call center with probably 24 occupants maybe more. There were 24 different ideas maybe more of the ideal temperature, whether it be winter or summer. Same fix after how many trips of checking hvac system, balancing system, etc etc.

Ended up with dummy T-stats! Called them placebo stats.

We got a call last year, a room with no heat. The teacher left a crockpot on under a thermostat!

A few years ago we had an electrician that barely escaped with his life. In the office were four women - 45 - 55 yrs - who were complaining about the heating system. He looked at us and said "Well, it is just your age that giving you problems - you know, the Change".

The wife's side of the bed is 3" higher due to the extra blankets she has doubled up on her side. One of these blankets is an electric blanket too.
