What ya got and what do you use them for? I use mine all the time for things other than pulling out a stuck vehicle. I pull trees up hillsides to get at them easy, have used them to help pull trees where I want. have pulled stumps out of the ground with them. This was my first winch, I bought it in the late 70's. it has been a dandy. Warn 8ooo, they still make this winch. It sits on a 88 Ford F-250

I bought these two online, was supposed to got the 2500 free if I bought the 5000. I stripped the planetary gears out of the 5000 first time I used it dragging stumps on a trailer. Mile Marker did warranty it and sent me new gears. I had it mounted on a big trailer, I have sold that trailer since. so I took it and bought a hitch mount and put it on it. the small one I have mounted on a trailer now in the pic.

Newest one is a Westin 12.500 pound, haven't had it that long and haven't used it yet. I put it on the 2015 Dodge.

I got some strange stuff kicking around here, and one such thing is an old Quarry Winch.

It is a brute of a thing, probably a ton or two because it is made of cast iron, and can be cranked in by hand, or an old flat belt from an old steam donkey engine back in the day. I am guessing on the cable capacity, but considering how deep they dug granite out of the ground, and how high they slung it afterwards, I am thinking it can hold at least an 1/8th of a mile of 3/4 cable.

I have thought of using it a few times, putting it on skids and then putting it at the high place of a hill and then using it like a high-lead to skid the wood from my tractor winch upon it. In that way the wood would lift up to the cable, then slide along the cable so that I could get the wood out. I never could pull the wood out of one really wet area because it would catch on the blowdowns, rocks and roots, yet its far to wet to put anything on top of the ground and haul it out.
