I'm looking to make a spring plate tensioner to fit this winch.
The OEM one is $429.00 and 6 weeks out. They are sure proud of them.
My question is specking out the torsion springs. Not wanting to go down the rabbit hole of spring engineering I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what I should go for.
    So many variables

Are you talking about the wide spring that rubs against the spooled cable? A piece of metal with a spring on it should work.

Yes that's it exactly. About 5.87"w and 3.25" base to center line of the drum. What I'm needing help with are the torsion springs, one right and one left.
Wire size, coil dia., number of coils ect. They are sized from helping to open a flip phone all the way through helper springs on equipment trailer ramps.
McMaster has categories by inch pounds with the last one being "25 inch pounds and up"and not much help after that.
Hoping someone has one on a winch and could post a picture with the wire diameter and I would at least have a starting point.
