What do you guys recommend for a raincoat? I'm not looking for something for a light drizzle, I'm talking about a rain coat that will leave me dry in a downpour. I have a Viking now, that I'm putting on backup duty (I absolutely love this coat) that I've had for a few years now. The company I work for used to split the uniform cost on rain coats, and I could get a nice rain coat for 20-30 bucks. I placed an order the other day (thinking I would get another Viking), and got a light windbreaker that I wouldnt put through a small rain. I was disappointed, and sent it back... I told them I would find my own. The Vikings dont seem to get the greatest reviews (which surprises me), I refuse to buy from Patagonia... which makes Marmot look pretty appealing (the Marmot Precip tobe specific). I'm looking forward to your opinions. I dont need something insulated or super heavy, just something that is high quality that I can take on and off easily as needed.
I run the military issue gore tex pants and coat. Got it at a surplus store. Looks a little like tactical Timmy haha, but I stay dry
Although I used to work in the rain, when the rain comes now I've found the best thing to go swiftly toward the house...
I still have my gore tex from the service. Its nice, but I was never really a big fan of them. BTW, if you ever need a cold weather jacket, the extreme cold weather issue coats can be had on the cheap... and are warm also.
X 2..............I no longer work in the rain or shoot in the rain. Feel sorry for those who have to.
I got the full rain suit from Bass Pro Shop, and have been out fishing in the pre-hurricane wind/rain. I was comfortable and dry.
Yep, while I won't melt, 9 times out of 10 I have the option of staying dry. Having my own personal range is a plus on the shooting side.
I use military surplus goretex also. I have expensive costs too and the military stuff is as good or better. Cheap and don't mind if they get roughed up when working
