I'm not going to lie we still do and are lazy every year getting them down.

But we're not the only ones. In the little town near me there is a house that still has all their stuff out and always does this time of year. The picture of the decorated house is the house I'm talking about picture taken late last week. 20170127_174204.jpg

I also saw early this week the white plywood deer cutouts in another yard on the way home.

And a neighbor around the corner is still running their lights. I can see them now. And these are not like mood or all year lights like some people have on their railing or trees or on their patio. These are christmas lights. There new for christmas....and when there is a star of David lit up, you can't tell me that's not christmas stuff. 20170118_183427.jpg

I guess that's the redneck version of the contraction has not, without any punctuation?

To be honest I have suffered through more hours of college English and writing classes than I care to admit. There is a reason there are multiple authors on professional papers and research papers, it's because you sometimes have someone who's strong point or attention to detail is not writing or even proof reading.

I hate when I sit on my couch in the front yard drinking beer and I see that my neighbors have left up their Christmas decorations up. I keep the Flowers nice in that old toilet I have by the mailbox. I have all the old cars on the lawn lined up nice and straight.

The tree and inside decorations came down a few days after new Years. The wife's B-day is Jan. 2nd, she likes to keep the stuff up until at least then. She has a winter/ Christmas village scene on the mantle by the stove she leaves up until March or so, It's about 12 feet long and takes a while to set up/take down. All the little houses and people and trees and such, I don't mind it. Maybe pics later.

Though I haven't decorated for Christmas in at least 7 years, before that there had been times when I would leave it up through Valentines Day. Just redo the decorations a little with more pink along with hearts and change out the light that fed the fiber optics to red. I had also considered leaving it up until St. Patric's Day, but by that point I was just plain sick of looking at the damm thing.

Does this count? I get holly from Mom's big tree every year and I hate to throw it out. I like having something green at the front and right now all that will survive are evergreens so I guess this means I still have Christmas decorations up.

Growing up our tradition was that we decorated a week prior to Christmas and took down the decorations after Epiphany. My wife's family on the other hand decorated the first week of Dec and everything was taken down on New Years Day. My wife and I compromised and we decorate the first week of Dec and take everything down on New Years Day lol.

I did leave the exterior lights up until 2 weekends ago (unplugged). We left for Florida for a week in early January and didn't have time to get that done. Luckily when we got back the temps were in the 60's which was perfect for getting up on the roof. It still felt cool after spending a week in 80° weather!
