    Hey all,
I just wanted to put this out incase you are looking for a decent Wheelbarrow, "reasonably" priced and good quality.
As most of us hoarders we use something to move our wood from point A to B.
My yard is not very big so we depend on wheelbarrows. And as most, we "beat the life out of them"! This past year after my knee surgery I found I can't balance a single wheel one very good any more, my knee just quits! :( and I drop the dam load :headbang:. So I've been hunting for "dual wheel" ones. Well,… "most" have poly tubs and "VERY" few have steel tubs, Poly just doesn't hold up in the cold and cracks. Anyway, after extensive search I found ACE Hardware makes about the "best" metal tub dual wheel out there, "for the $$$" Jescraft makes a super one but at $200.00+ dollars and with another $50.00 shipping… Our Canadian Hoarder family have the "Erie" brand, up there, they rock! but you can't get them in the states.
Anyway, for $89.00 and shipped free to your closest Ace hardware where you pick it up, or another small charge to the door, they are well worth the $$$. I don't know why but metal tubs are going by the wayside with the excepting of commercial masonry ones and they are "PRICEY".
I had the thing together in less than an hour, "with Beer brakes" :drunk: and you only need a 1/2" socket and boxed end for the whole thing.
For the homeowner, you can hardly kill these.

6cbft. Thats all the bigger I need. I also forgot to mention in the above that the handles are metal also so no rot or breaking.

I've broke a couple already myself, the single wheel ones. They just don't seem to hold up and "I think" the sun/solar destroys them also. You can't beat these for the $$.

Ive got the metal handled, 8 cu ft poly, dual wheel setup from menards.
I broke the floor within about 4 weeks.

Removed the tub, traced out the handles onto a sheet of 1/8" aluminum and made
a solid floor beneath the tub.
About 2 weeks later i knocked out the left front bottom corner.
So now if i get just the right piece of wood in there, it'll poke through the corner and rub the tire.

Popped one of the pneumatic tires within about a 3 days.
Replaced them with solid rubber tires from Home depot which weigh atleast 4x as much.

    I need the cubic feet.
A 6 footer would work of course, but that extra 2 foot really makes a difference.
I found an 8 cu. ft. steel tub on ebay, but the pictures make it look like a 6 cu. ft tub.
Dont think i want to go through that ordeal of buying it and having to pay return shipping
if it isnt an 8 footer.

I need to just make one of those carts out of the handles and wheels/tires from a wheelbarrow for split wood.
Just not sure how much wood they can haul.

Unless you go to contractor grade and pay the $$$$ I'm not sure they make an 8cuft with a steel tub. At least I haven't found one not saying there not out there. I beat the web for a couple days, I just couldn't see spending $200+ bucks for a Jescraft even though they are "VERY" nice. The nice thing about these is ACE has plenty of parts and will stand behind it. The 6cuft works for me and I'm also not 40 any more so lifting it with a load of Oak is just about my limit any more.:whistle:

You mean to tell me that nobody makes a decent poly tub 'barrow? My little 10P cart for my lawn tractor has suffered plenty of abuse and has held up great. They don't make wheel barrow tubs from something similar?

None that hold up well that I have found. The poly one I had last year/winter, the side split out of it and thats when I got the single wheel/metal one from Lowes, "which" works well with the "no flat tire". The wheel barrow poly tubs don't seem to be as "flexible" as some of the plastic carts.

WeldrDave, do you have any thoughts to share about the "bicycle wheeled garden carts" for farwood?

I never owned one but they are supposed to be strong. But the only thing that turns me away from them "here" on the coast is the wheels/spokes rusting quick and freezing up, Stuff will rust over night here in the salt air.:eek:o_O

True, I grew up a 1/4 mile from Long Island Sound- know all about that salt air...
If you could source the plastic 20" BMX rims u'd have it made in the shade... That is, if you wanted to fab up something to begin with.

They do but they are not in the homeowner box stores. I've had my 10 cube dual no flat wheel is indestructible. It's made by Brentwood industries. Yeah, it's stupid expensive but I make my money with it, so buy once and cry once.

That would work!!! For the money, this is easy… And if I get 4 or 5 years out of it I'll be quite happy. I had a metal tub single wheel years back that lasted almost 10 years till the bottom fell/rusted out.

If you look in the back ground in the one picture, I have the exact one. It works well, but I'm have a Heck of a time keeping my self balanced anymore.

I took an old wheelbarrow, pulled the tub, made a metal frame for the front and then used plywood for the front and bottom. Just stack it on...

Kinda what I did, made a wood frame though. Like an old masons barrow. You can turn a single wheel into a dual wheel job fairly easy. I just used a long 5/8" bolt for the axle. The brackets that held my axle just had small tabs to hold it in place, bent them out of the way. Also needed spacers but hey it works and only cost some time as I had most all the stuff around here.

I bought a HF steel wagon four years ago when we moved here. I wanted it for my son as he hauls the wood from the stacks to the porch firewood ring.
I found the wagon is better for moving wood to the splitter and stacks. I also use it on my scrounges to haul rounds to the trailer and my saws and gear to the trees.
