Just curious really... Ours came in at $200 for the first month so not bad at all considering gas cost is a lot more. We run electronics in the house too such as room to room fans and a few floor fans. So the pellet stove was probably 1/2 of it. I haven't sat down to do the exact math yet but that's about right I think.

I'd be surprised if your pellet stove cost $100/mo. to run.

Pete, I think my stove is about$14 a month. However, there is a cheap way to find out.
I have a kii-o-watt meter that I can use on any plug in appliance to get usage and cost. You only have to enter the cost of electricity per kilowatt and then plug it in line with the appliance. Let it run a day, week, or month and you get your results. Electricity is around .17 per kilowatt hr. here. $200 seems horrible. We switched our lights to LED and some cfu units. No electric hot water. But all the other appliances and multiple electronics are electric. Are you running any heating devices, like to the greenhouse? Those will eat you alive.
    Look for this:

Nop greenhouse is now the winter yard chairs, flowerpot, future shop sink, garden tools and whatever else gets put in their storage place lol. I have the breaker shut off to it for the winter.

I'll look for that meter thanks Larry.

If you can't find one, let me know. You can borrow mine. I'm not usin it now. I tracked down my usage and cut it in half.
    It was driving me nuts.
The stove uses most electricity when it is lighting up. I think upwards of 300 watts for 15 min. But when it is just running, it is more like a light bulb. Talk to Smokey the Bear. He burns pellets and has his bill half of what I pay. My last bill was just under $100.

My summer light bill with running two a/c units is about $90-130 depending on how much cooling is needed. My winter bill is about $70-80 with the stove and two fans running.

I have used a Kill-a-watt meter on all my stoves. None have come in at over $20 month. Most are an average of $15.

My furnace is the $20 a month (large 800 CFM distribution blower). Most stoves range between $12-$17 a month. They are a low amp motors. And the auger is intermittent.

I say you have something else eating some juice in your home Pete.

Our electric bill usually runs around 100 a month. If I would of used the heat pump last winter, that would of easily been 300 a month.

I had previously read comments generally indicating $15 - $20 per month as well as the same usage as a light bulb. Glad to see confirmation here.

I guess around $20/month here also. My last electric bill was $98, and that was just before I started using the furnace and when I wasn't running the dehumidifier downstairs as much.

I run about 150-175 in summer (central air) and then about 100-110 in winter. I assumed also about 10-15 with stove as I do not use it as much as many of you on a monthly basis.

My electric stove doesn't get a lot of use. We have and assortment of countertop appliances that get used first. I think our electric dryer is the largest power user in this household. My elevtrical provider has a graph of household use. I can look at it and note when there is a spike. Either the oven or the drying will usually have been on when ther was a spike showing.

It was $97 total. However I wasn't running room fans yet however.

I'm also wondering what the usage on my Mac mini is as we have been leaving it on lately.... My old desktop was a hog at 600watt. I think the mini is far far smaller but I need to look tonight. We also run a fridge freezer combo, a side by side and a stand alone freezer. Even with all those we never go over $100. That's why I'm curious as to what it is.

We ran it nonstop to get a feel for the cost and get used to using it but now we are running it about 230 hrs a month out of 672 hrs a month. Or close anyways.... I guess the next bill will really tell us. savemoney DexterDay I will certainly order the meter and play with it! You got my interest peaked guys lol.
