Unless you are going to forge horse shoes or plan on over heating yer stove to the point of destruction, never, and I mean NEVER, use the ash pan door to introduce more air to the far box. You can get a good hot fire going real quick by doing so but it is not recommended by any means.
NEVER OPEN THE ASH PAN DOOR TO GET THE FIRE GOING !! (And, once you close the ash pan door, just to open the main door, expect an explosion!)
One thing to remember when you get yer new burner, ( now remember, this is just my opinion) Start off by following the manufacturers instructions on how to properly operate yer stove. Chances are that it may or may not work right for your needs. Do some research on the interweb and tweek yer burning methods to get the stove to run right with the wood you have and your local. Keep in mind that just because some one who lives 1000 miles away and has the same stove as you do and swears on a stack of bibles that you should do this or that don't mean chit. I have learned the hard way in the past 5 years since getting a EPA stove that taking some ones word as gospel on how to run the thing don't mean diddly. To many variables. I had a year of a learning curve on Black Sabbath and it took all I could do to get rid of my old smoke dragon habits. Just sayin.
