I noticed a gel like substance on a cherry tree. I did not see any holes. It is a bit sticky but I did not notice any smell and NO I didn't taste it. Has anyone else seen this? DSC04280.JPG DSC04281.JPG

Borer. Grubs mine the sapwood of the tree and often reduce it to powder. Adult females bore tiny holes in the bark and lay eggs in the cambium layer of the tree.

This is the first cherry tree I have seen this on and I have a number of cherry trees in my woods.

Your neighbors have them or you brought in something that carried them in.
