Think I broke my record yesterday bucking a 41" diameter oak round.. IMG_6514.JPG IMG_6516.JPG The 500i with a 25" bar did the honors. My prior was cutting some red oak next door to Eric Wanderweg.

My record was some overgrown silver maple. Iirc it was about 52" diameter. My longest bar is a 36", and it was barely adequate for that job.

Unfortunately, I've been close to 5.5 feet on some silver maple....man I hate that big stuff!

Biggest I've cut was an 8' sitka spruce back in 2010 or so.

I’ve cut several Willow Oaks 70+”
Probably got a 48-50” in my yard now. It may be spring before I get around to cutting it up for processing.

I’ve bucked a few that were around 50”. One Red Oak had branches that were 36” across. Sure makes alot of firewood in a hurry!!! This 460 Stihl is wearing a 25” bar

    We just like bragging....:zip:

Truth is, eastern wood is every bit as challenging as western stuff.... and generally a whole lot more ornery.

And bragging rights you deserve. I marvel when I watch videos of them felling massive conifers and watching it fall like its nothing whereas I'm ready to have an accident in my pants dropping a 24" red maple! :emb:

If I had my way I'd saw trees down every day, I find it very enjoyable.
