I've gone through the porch reserve- time to rotate stock, clean the bins, and reload for next season. Pretty close to winding thing up for this year. Still haven't decided what is on for next year. I've got some pretty good stuff and I've got some mystery wood that is plenty old and dry but I must have put it up before I got really compulsive about labeling it. Probably going to go with mystery wood this coming season and probably mix in a good amount of pre-split pine kindling. That will open up some space in the stacks at which point I will regroup and decide what to put up for 2026 or thereabouts.
I have a lot of options this year for what'll be good and dry by fall: 1/2 cord of apple, face cord of beech, half cord of red maple, face cord of sugar maple, 1/2 face cord of cherry, cord of black birch, 3/4 cord of ash, face cord of elm (probably be a cord soon), ~2 cords of pine/spruce/hemlock mix, 1/2 face cord of aspen, face cord of black locust... There's no way I'm burning all that next season and I'll probably end up giving some away to people who run low late in the season. Out of all I mentioned, I'm really looking forward to the birch, the apple, and the beech. Also a steady supply of conifer for burning down coal beds.
10ish cord of Pine & Poplar for shoulder wood, then 10 of Oak. Looks like the Ash, Hard Maple & Cherry will all get sold.
This is all ready to go: cord of Pine, cord mix of cherry, sassafrass, hackberry, 1.75 cord kentucky coffee tree, 1.75 ash, several cords of 3 year old black locust.
Next year (season) will be mostly ash, sugar maple and red oak for me, with intermittent beech, apple and cherry.
We have 24 face cord of Ash that will be ready but plan on burning between 10 & 12 face cord. We have just over three face cord of Ironwood ready for the colder months along with six face cord of White Pine for the shoulder season in the fall and spring. We have some nice Beech and Sugar Maple, eight face cord total that we'll let season another year. We will also burn 50 bags of pellets.
