Hello, New guy here. I have been following this site for sometime and just joined. I have gotten such good and helpful information here and the quality of the participants are top notch!
I have searched but found no threads matching the title above, and I am in search mode for a UTV side by side for firewood and farm usage. My pickup and tractor are used often but looking for something that gets me more easily in tighter quarters and for some smaller tasks that don't require that much "muscle".

So, what makes and models do y'all like and what specifications are most important to you? Unlikely that I will buy new but rather a "lightly used" (if there is such a machine ) preowned one. I know that a bed will be a necessity preferably a dump.

    Thanks Much!

We’ve had Kubotas at work for years and they have been pretty near indestructible. Some drive them everyday all day. They are used for snow removal too.

That is kinda how I'm leaning.
Kubota RTV X1120D. Probably exclusively used on our 20 acres and the neighbors 120 so no need to go 60 miles an hour. They are supposed to sip fuel and I already have a 50 gallon bulk tank of off-road diesel in the garage I keep filled for the tractor. Its cheaper than E-free gas by nearly a $1.00 around me. I can't imagine trying to feed a 800-1000 cc gas side by side if being used on the regular.

Newer ones may be quieter, but the ones we have are loud. That’s the only thing I don’t like about them.

I'm not sure on that. I have little experience with one. I do like the 8" of suspension X versions offer as well as standard hand throttle to override the hst / throttle pedal. Some times you need full throttle with very little hst for the most torque.

I have had a Kubota 900 for 9 years now. It lives on my 10 acres, my brother's 80 acres across the road and the 75-acre hunting lease we have next door. I find it perfect for work on the properties-much the same work as the OP. No problems with it, about 350 hours use.

There’s only about 1.6 gazillion options out there it seems, but don’t over look at least considering a mini truck. Don’t know your wants and needs specifics but mini trucks have way more cargo bed capacity.

And standard heated cab. I was just looking at one on my local Craigslist. $6500. Has ATV tires on it already. Diahatsu if I recall.

Loaded truck pics.We have this one at work complete with ATV tires. Gets around super even in the sand. And will haul quite a load. The load in the picture didn’t even make it squat.
Boss and hired man just did a bunch of tuning on it, runs better than it ever has since the company got it. Really looking forward to wooding with it this fall. Mitsubishi

On the mini trucks just watch what brand you buy...I recall reading a thread about them somewhere in the last year or two and it sounds like getting parts for some of them can be a trick...even pre "supply chain issues"

Thanks, that's one I hadn't thought of although a farm store up the road from us had a couple for sale some time back. I never did inquire about them at the time as I didn't then have a need.

I am leaning towards Kawasaki Mule, Polaris Ranger and similar. Doesn't seem to be many used mules around here locally but am not adverse to driving a ways for the right one. One feature that would be necessary is the flat bench seat and either gas (preferable) or diesel, not interested in electric. 4 WD would be OK but not sure how often it may be required. ( After typing that I realized how redundant it is...of course you only need 4 WD when you NEED it )

So, not stuck on those manufacturers only. One son found a great buy on a older Club Car with diesel but it is a bit on the loud side and really can't converse when running. It does sip fuel though and it has the guts to go just about anywhere.

Unlike y'all in the northern climes we only get a snow about once a year and then not much and our 75+ acres while not flat would be easily negotiated except in really, really wet muddy conditions in 2wd but locking differential could be handy.

Thanks for any and all the suggestions and feedback it is very much appreciated!!

Welcome to the club, lots of great folks sharing knowledge and humor. Nice to see another Dixie fellow join. We don't have a UTV, but my cousin has a Kubota he uses on his farm, seems to like it alot.
    Where do you call home?

On the farm and for wood gathering we have had good luck with Polaris Rangers. [IMG][IMG]

Pretty country up that way. Been through there several times. Went on a church mission trip in that area in 2002. Foothills Camp with Salkehatchie Summer Service. We spent the week at Campobello, worked there, Landrum and Inman. Great time.
Any pictures of your wood set up, heater, saws, equipment?
