some guy has this posting and the wood is there. I thought it looked like honey locust. He says it's mulberry. Free Fire wood in East York Area | Free Stuff | City of Toronto | Kijiji enableSearchNavigationFlag=true Thoughts?
Looks like black locust. Honey locust, except for the landscape type, is covered with huge, nasty, armor piercing thorns. Honey locust is a bit more orange than what's in the picture. Black locust is a bit hotter burning than honey locust, but not by much. As for mulberry I can't ssy for sure because I've not cut any. In any event it's all great wood so GET IT!!
You didn't say it was all cut up for you already. RUN! Go get it NOW! Don't wait. Ads like that around where I live usually last an hour like that. Sometimes less. In fact, it may already be gone.
Now I'm curious. The pieces at 01:00 and 21:00 with holes look very much like a little guy I dropped cutting trail. Very dense. I thought it was some oak.
M2theB couple pieces you have are red oak - clearly see the rays Looks like the hole in the pith let water in and froze causing the splitting
The color on the split threw me. The tree was under the canopy of others. Maybe that's why so dense. I'm glad to know I didn't drop one the last of the Mohicans on the property. That guy was sickly and located about 5 feet left of me. Pretty dense area.
Unfortunately I was second to respond. Had to wait two days to find out someone had already taken it all. Darn it. Thanks for the help regardless guys
